Ninotschka and Peer is a German West-East romance drama made in 1961 by the actor Joachim Mock , who also took on the male lead.
action
The love story between “Ninotschka”, whose real name is Sabine Horn and who works as a policewoman at the VoPo in East Berlin, and Peer Müller, a newspaper editor from the west of the city, begins quite banally: the male boxer who lives in the west with his master Peer After an east-west encounter, Bello is drawn to the boxer lady Babettchen by mistress Sabine. So that this animal love does not come to the dog because of the "big politics", the journalist from the West and the police from the East also approach each other and soon discover that they have similar feelings to each other as their two four-legged friends. Things change suddenly one day when, in the morning hours of August 13, 1961, the GDR begins to seal off the eastern sector of Berlin from the western sectors by building a wall. Now all four protagonists of the story are threatened with separation for an indefinite period ...
Production notes
Ninotschka und Peer was made in the second half of 1961 as a direct cinematic reaction to the construction of the Berlin Wall in August 1961. The film only passed the FSK on June 15, 1962, and it took almost another six months until Ninotschka and Peer on 23 June 1962 November 1962 was finally premiered
Actor Mock made his directorial debut in this film. The Russian name “Ninotschka” is synonymous with the origins of the East Berlin native Sabine from the communist world behind the Iron Curtain .
