Nintendo Technology Development

Nintendo Technology Development (abbreviated NTD ) is a subsidiary of the Japanese video game manufacturer Nintendo and acts primarily as a research and development department. The department was founded in 1996. It is based in the city of Redmond in the US state of Washington . The main task of the development center is the research and development of future hardware technology, which is primarily intended for the North American market. The head of the studio is Howard Cheng .

Nintendo Technology Development focuses on the development of various hardware components and software routines. In addition, the company is involved in the programming of auxiliary software for game development for other Nintendo studios in the role of a first-party developer . NTD also cooperates with developers who develop for Nintendo platforms and also provides them with the necessary software.

However, Nintendo Technology Development is also working with Nintendo Integrated Research & Development , which is led by Genyo Takeda , on the design of game consoles.
