Nintendo Software Technology Corporation (short NST ) is a video game - developer based in Redmond, Washington . The company is a subsidiary and one of the eight internal or one of a total of 16 first-party developers at Nintendo .

history

NST was founded in the late 1990s as Nintendo's first US developer studio, with the aim of developing games specifically for the North American and western markets. NST's first projects were exclusively about porting older games to the then current Nintendo game consoles . On January 1, 2000, NST released Capcom's classic Bionic Commando for the Game Boy Color . In the same year, Namco's Ridge Racer was ported to the Nintendo 64 and SNK's Crystalis - again for Game Boy Color.

NST's premises are on the same site as Nintendo of America headquarters and the DigiPen Institute of Technology , a college for video game developers. Accordingly, a large part of the NST workforce, which consists of around 80 people, is made up of DigiPen graduates.

NST is currently headed by Shigeki Yamashiro .
