Ninu Zammit

Anthony "Ninu" Zammit (* 1952 in Żurrieq ) is a Maltese politician of the Partit Nazzjonalista (PN), who was among other things a member of the House of Representatives and several times a minister.

Life

Anthony "Ninu" Zammit first completed an undergraduate degree at St. Aloysius College in Birkirkara and then a postgraduate degree in architecture and civil engineering at the University of Malta . In the parliamentary elections on December 18, 1981 , he was a candidate for the Nationalist Party PN ( Partit Nazzjonalista ) in constituency 5 for the first time elected to the House of Representatives (Kamra Tad-Deputati) .

In the parliamentary election that followed on May 13, 1987 , he was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives. During this time he was between 12 May 1987 and 3 May 1990 Cabinet Fenech Adami I and of 3 May 1990 to 27 February 1992, in the Cabinet Fenech Adami II Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Energy (Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Energy) . In the parliamentary elections on February 22, 1992 , he was again a member of the Kamra Tad-Deputati in constituency 5 and again held the post of Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Energy in the Fenech Adami III cabinet between February 27, 1992 and October 28, 1996 . Also in the subsequent parliamentary election on October 26, 1996 , he was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives in constituency 5, but this time the Nationalist Party could not provide the government.

Zammit was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives in constituency 5 for the Partit Nazzjonalista in the parliamentary election on September 5, 1998 . On September 8, 1998, he was appointed Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries to the Fenech Adami IV cabinet and was a member of it until April 15, 2003. In the parliamentary election on April 14, 2003 , he was re-elected as a member of the Kamra Tad-Deputati . On April 15, 2003 he then took over the post of Minister for Resources and Infrastructure (Minister for Resources and Infrastructure) in the cabinet Fenech Adami V and held this until March 23, 2004. This ministerial office he kept between April 23, 2004 and March 12, 2008 also in the following Lawrence Gonzi I cabinet , which was formed after Prime Minister Edward Fenech Adami was elected President .

Most recently, Ninu Zammit was re- elected as a member of the House of Representatives for the Partit Nazzjonalista in the parliamentary elections on March 12, 2008 and was a member of this until January 7, 2013. However, he was no longer appointed to the Lawrence Gonzi II cabinet .

His marriage to Margaret Zahra had three children.
