The Nice spurge ( Euphorbia nicaeensis ) is a plant type from the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
features
The Nice Spurge is a perennial , herbaceous plant or shrub , which reaches a height and 80 centimeters. The leaves are 3 to 18 millimeters wide, 10 to 75 millimeters long and narrowly lanceolate, oblong or ovate. There are no non-flowering side shoots on the stem under the mandrel. The umbel rays are usually forked once or twice.
The flowering period extends from June to July.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.
Occurrence
Nice milkweed occurs in southern and eastern Europe, southern central Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus on dry open sites.
Systematics
Several subspecies and varieties can be distinguished:
- Euphorbia nicaeensis subsp. demnatensis (Coss. ex Batt. & Trab.) Breistr .: It occurs in northern Algeria.
- Euphorbia nicaeensis var. Hispanica (Degen & Hervier) Cuatrec .: It occurs in eastern Spain and in northwest Africa.
- Euphorbia nicaeensis subsp. nicaeensis : It occurs from eastern central Europe and southern Europe to Transcaucasia and northwest Africa.
- Euphorbia nicaeensis subsp. prostrata (Fiori) Arrigoni: It occurs in Italy.

The Nice milkweed is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. There are several varieties.
