Nkechi Madubuko (actually Nkechinyere Madubuko , born March 28, 1972 in Giessen ) is a former German athlete of Nigerian origin and today's presenter , journalist , sociologist and actress .

biography

Nkechi Madubuko was born in 1972 to Nigerian parents in Giessen. After graduating from high school in 1991 at Philippinum Marburg , she began studying sociology , media studies and psychology at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , which she completed in 2000 with a Magister Artium . Since 1996 she has been working as a presenter and journalist for various television channels such as VIVA Zwei , DSF and Premiere World . At VIVA Zwei she moderated a. a. the program PM Since 1998 she also had three appearances as an actress in TV productions of the ARD .

She completed an editorial trainee at ZDF from 2000 to 2001 and has since worked as an author for ZDF and 3sat. In 2004 the sociologist began her doctorate at the Philipps University of Marburg in the subject of sociology (focus on migration sociology ). From 2006 to 2009 she was a scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. In spring 2010 she successfully completed her doctorate, her dissertation Acculturation Stress von Migranten - A study on professional biography acceptance experiences and applied coping strategies was also published by VS Verlag in 2010. In the anthology of the Federal Office for Migration Potentials of African Migration in Germany and the Countries of Origin , which appeared in the summer of 2010, she is represented with an article. She also works as an editor at 3sat Kulturzeit. The doctor of social science has been a freelance moderator at meetings, conferences and cultural events (including the Körber Foundation, the Jewish Museum Berlin, the Ministry of Family Affairs and the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Development) for 15 years. Nkechi Madubuko is the mother of two sons.

Sports career

From 1988 to 1999 she was successful as a track and field athlete. In 1989 she competed - at that time still for Nigeria - at the African Championships in Lagos and won the silver medal in the high jump with 1.78 m . On February 2, 1990, she jumped in Bauchi with 1.86 m, the African youth record and thus the African record. She held the African record for 6 years. This record was surpassed as the African record in 1996 and the Nigerian national record in 2007. In 1990, when she was seventeen, she took part in the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand as a high jumper for the Nigerian national team. After choosing German citizenship, she competed in six international competitions for the DLV from 1992 to 1999 , including the 1998 World Athletics Cup . Her best placement at German championships was second place in the 1998 triple jump.

As an athlete, Nkechi Madubuko was 1.74 m tall and had a competition weight of 62 kg.

  • Triple jump: 14.02 m on June 6, 1997 in Mainz (first place in the German best list 1999, fifth place in the all-time German best list, status: end of the 2008 season)
