The album received positive reviews. So forgave Rolling Stone 3 of 5 stars: No Limit Top Dogg is Snoop Dogg's hitherto best album since his debut album Doggystyle . With the help of old friends like Dr. Dre and DJ Quik he came back to G-Funk . Allmusic awarded 3 out of 5 stars, the Los Angeles Times 3 out of 4 stars.

No Limit Top Dogg sold over 187,000 copies in the first week. Despite good criticism, it was Snoop Dogg's first album, which could not be placed at number one. The album had the best placement in the USA, where it came in at number 2. In addition, it reached number 81 in the 2009 annual charts in the United States. In addition, Snoop Dogg's song Bitch Please from the album reached number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 .
