Malice n Wonderland received mixed reviews. Gregory Heaney reviewed the album for the Allmusic music database . He comes to the conclusion that Snoop Dogg is not a relic of past G-Funk days. On the album, in addition to a retrospective of his career, you can also hear the trends in rap music in its entirety: his beginnings in G-Funk, Crunk , Dirty South and his time with The Neptunes . At the same time, Snoop Dogg succeeded in demonstrating his ongoing relevance and underlining his veteran status.

In the Poppmatters e-zine, David Amidon emphasizes the greater closeness compared to the predecessor Ego Trippin ' and attributes this to the ingenious sequencing and the precise track list. Despite the overall more closed aesthetics of the music production , the same mistakes were made on Malice n Wonderland as on its predecessor: Snoop Dogg sometimes lets his guest rappers Soulja Boy and The-Dream outdo him.

success

The album reached number 23 on the US Billboard 200 and stayed in the charts for 17 weeks. It also reached high placements in the sub-charts. It achieved number 2 in the Billboard hit parade for rap albums with a retention time of 15 weeks. It reached number 5 on the R&B / Hip-Hop album charts, with the album lasting 33 weeks.
