occupation

Nocebo is a German fictional short film by Lennart Ruff from 2014 from the point of view of a young man with paranoid schizophrenia who witnessed the fatal side effect of a new psychotropic drug during the clinical study , but who is not believed. The title alludes to the nocebo effect , i.e. H. the occurrence of side effects without actual drug exposure or placebo administration . Nocebo won the 41st Student Academy Awards ("Student Oscar") in 2014 in the foreign film category.

action

The 22-year-old protagonist, Christian Lukas, suffers from paranoid schizophrenia . He participates in a clinical trial of a new psychotropic drug and falls in love with another participant named Anna. You discover the death of a fellow participant. The doctors in charge cover up the incident instead of solving it. When Anna begins to show signs of the fatal side effects too, Christian breaks out of the test center to get help. But neither the police nor doctors believe in his story because of his diagnosis. Only his sister Alice stands by him, although she too has considerable doubts, until suddenly unknown persecutors actually appear. The real story of Christian's escape remains unclear because it is difficult to distinguish between psychosis and reality, and ultimately it is not even certain that Anna even exists.
