Nolana laxa is a species of the genus Nolana inthe nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nolana laxa is an herbaceous plant that forms a beet root , but is still likely to be annual. It is hairy with long, simply angled or branched glandular and non-glandular trichomes . The leaves are 1 to 1.3 (rarely up to 1.6) cm long. They stand alternately and are lanceolate, lanceolate or rhombic in shape. The petiole is very short.

The flowers stand individually on 1 to 8 mm long, very thin flower stalks that stand upright. The calyx has a length of 4 to 6 mm, is bell-shaped and deeply incised five times, the calyx teeth are unequal, upright and linearly pointed. The crown is 1.3 to 2.4 cm long, white to blue in color, funnel-shaped and sticky. The stamens are unevenly shaped and divided into two longer and three shorter ones. The stamens are widened at the base , but rarely hairy. The flower base is slightly bowl-shaped, the edge is curved. The stylus is gyno-basic and shorter than the longer stamens. The scar is lobed in the shape of a head.

The peduncle elongates on the fruit and is bent over at the base. The fruit consists of five to twelve egg-shaped, unequal partial fruits.

Occurrence

Nolana laxa occurs from the Peruvian region of Lima to the Chilean region of Tarapacá and grows on mountains near the coast and in deserts inland at heights between 50 and 1200 m.
