Nolana mollis is a species of plant in the genus Nolana inthe nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Nolana mollis is a spherical perennial subshrub or annual herbaceous plant . The plant grows upright or prostrate, branched and has thick foliage. It is hairy with glandular and non-glandular, simple trichomes . The leaves are alternate, succulent , 0.3 to 1 cm long and linear-spatulate to ribbon-shaped, the leaf edge can be bent back. The petiole is very short.
The flowers stand individually in the axils or in spiral cymes on 0.8 to 1.2 cm long peduncles . The calyx is 0.4 to 1 cm long, bell-shaped and has five uneven, upright, linearly pointed teeth. The crown is hairy, 0.8 to 2.4 cm long, colored white to purple and tubular-tunnel-shaped. The stamens are unequal, there are two longer and three shorter ones. The base of the stamens can be hairy. The flower base is disc-shaped. The stylus is gynobasisch and having a length of about 1.5 cm as long as the shorter filaments in approximately. The scar is head-shaped.
The calyx enlarges on the fruit. The fruits consist of three to eight unevenly shaped partial fruits.
Occurrence
Nolana mollis occurs in the Chilean regions of Antofagasta to Atacama and grows there on dunes .
