Norbert Schneider (politician)

Norbert Schneider (* 31 January 1935 in Horb am Neckar ) is a German lawyer and politician of the CDU .

education and profession

Schneider went to school in Horb, where he graduated from the high school there. He then studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and at the University of Bonn . In Tübingen he also became a member of the KStV Alamannia in the Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Associations . After his second state examination in 1963, he worked as an assessor at the Reutlingen Social Court, where he became chairman of a chamber in 1967.

Political career

His political career began as early as the early 1960s when he joined the CDU. From 1962 he was local councilor in Horb (until 1978 with one interruption) and from 1971 to 1973 district councilor in the district council of the district of Horb and then until 1978 in the district council of the district of Freudenstadt . Schneider had been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , of which he was a member until 1996, since 1968 . 1972 to 1978 he was the parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group.

In 1978, Prime Minister Lothar Späth brought him into the state government , but as political state secretary in the state ministry, he had no seat and no vote in the cabinet. After the state elections in 1980, Schneider moved to the Ministry of Science and Art in the same function , where he continued his office after the state elections of 1984 and 1988 and in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Erwin Teufel in 1991. However, after the state elections in 1992, Schneider resigned his position as State Secretary. But he still belonged to the state parliament until the end of the legislative period.

honors and awards

In 1990 Schneider received the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. On April 26, 2008 he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit.
