North German metal trade association

The Norddeutsche Metall-Berufsgenossenschaft (NMBG) was the trade association for metalworking companies in northern Germany. It existed from 1885 to 2007. Most recently, it was responsible for 29,000 companies and around 670,000 insured employees in eight federal states.

tasks

The job of the employers' liability insurance association was to ensure the prevention of accidents at work , occupational diseases and work-related health hazards . After the occurrence of an accident at work or an occupational disease, she had to restore the injured person's health and performance and to compensate them or their surviving dependents financially.

Jurisdiction

The professional association was responsible for companies that produced iron, steel or metal or that worked or processed iron, steel, metal or plastic as the main material. These included in particular blast furnaces, steelworks and rolling mills and iron and steel foundries, steel and metal companies, shipbuilders , machinery manufacturers , automotive manufacturers , automotive repair shops and companies in the metal trades.

The local jurisdiction of the employers' liability insurance association extended to the states of Lower Saxony , Bremen , Hamburg , Schleswig-Holstein , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Brandenburg , Berlin and the areas that formerly formed the districts of Detmold , Lemgo and Waldeck .

history

The trade association was founded in 1885 as the Northwest Iron and Steel Trade Association. On March 30, 2007, it merged with the trade association Metall Süd to form the trade association Metall Nord Süd .
