Norma Eberhardt ; married Dauphin (born July 8, 1929 in Oakhurst , New Jersey , † September 16, 2011 in Manhattan , New York City , New York ) was an American actress .

Life

Norma Eberhardt, born in the US state of New Jersey, was discovered as a model by a New York photographer at the Easter parade in Asbury Park as a teenager . She was one of the top models and cover girls in the United States in the late 1940s / early 1950s . The different colors of their eyes contributed to this: one was blue, the other brown.

She began her acting career in the early 1950s. At first she only had small roles, as in the film musical Seemann, watch out! (1952), in the film comedy Horror of the Division (1953, as a canteen worker), both with Dean Martin , and as a young girl suffering from agoraphobia, Louise in the film drama Problem Girls (1953).

In the film drama Live Fast, Die Young (1958) she played the female lead under the direction of Paul Henreid . She played Jill Winters, a young girl who leaves school, goes to the big city and is involved in the criminal machinations of a gang of jewel thieves.

Her most famous role was the female lead in the horror film Dracula's Blood Night (1958). In this, in a small American town in Southern California as the scene laid Dracula film played Eberhardt young Rachel Maybery, together with her mother and her younger brother visited by her Romanian cousin Bellac Gordal receives (Dracula), whose victims it threatens to be.

She also played episode roles and guest roles in several US television series in the 1950s, including the television series Adventures of Wild Bill Hickock (1952), State Trooper (1958), Police Report (1959), The Lawless Years (1959) and in the sitcom A Cage Full of Heroes (1961).

In 1955 Eberhardt married the French film actor Claude Dauphin , with whom she lived alternately in New York, Hollywood , in Ocean Township in Monmouth County and in Paris . Eberhardt lived after her retirement from the film business and after the death of Dauphin († 1978) permanently in Monmouth County. She was one of the founding members and trustees of the Ocean Township Historical Museum there .

Eberhardt died of a stroke at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City at the age of 82 .
