Northport is a village in Leelanau County in the US state of Michigan . Northport has 648 inhabitants on an area of 4.3 km². The population density is 150.7 / km². Northport is located on Grand Traverse Bay on a peninsula in Lake Michigan . Northport is also home to Woolsey Memorial Airport and Leelanau State Park . Northport was the county seat of Leelanau County from 1863 to 1883 .
