Notre-Dame-de-Lorette (Paris)
The parish church of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette is a church in Paris built in the style of a Roman basilica . It is located in the 9th arrondissement , about 100 m north of Rue la Fayette . The basilica is dedicated to the Patronage of Our Lady of Loreto .
history
The construction period extended from 1823 to 1836. The architect was Louis-Hippolyte Lebas , who was also involved in the construction of the Paris stock exchange, the Palais Brongniart . The patronage of the church is intended to commemorate the miracle in which angels are said to have carried the house of the Holy Family from Nazareth to Loreto in Italy.
Leaded glass window
The stained glass windows in the church are the first windows made by the Manufacture de Sèvres . They were made in the 1830s from cardboard boxes by well-known artists; the depiction of the Assumption of Mary comes from Pierre Delorme .
organ
Aristide Cavaillé-Coll built one of his first organs in the church from 1836–1838 . The composer César Franck was organist here from 1846 to 1859. The organ builders Stolz and Haerpfer-Erman repaired them in 1881 and 1975 respectively. The organ is classified as a monument historique and has the following disposition :
