Nuna asiilasooq is one of the two national anthems of Greenland . Both the text and the melody were created in 1920 by Jonathan Petersen , who had previously written the hymn Nunarput utoqqarsuanngoravit . While Nunarput utoqqarsuanngoravit is the official national anthem, Nuna asiilasooq is the Kalaallit anthem . It has been recognized since 1979.
Long Land
This is what the Greenlanders have as their land
/:
All of
it is full of mountains: /:
The many fjords on the edge make it well suited as a land, like the
islands off its entire coast .
It is so very beautiful
that it was used as a hunting ground
/: The whole coast: /:
In the north up and south down
a meeting point for people
and wherever there is land,
it is the place intended to stay.
At the feet of its mountains
and mouths of its fjords
/: its inhabitants meet. : /:
You have his sea as the place of what is intended for you,
with which you deal so well.
It belongs
to the Greenlanders forever .
