English text German translation
Saba, you rise from the ocean,
With mountains and hillsides so steep.
How can we reach you to greet you
Isle of the sea, rough and deep?
Come, let us look at the rowers,
With faces so placid and calm,
Guide us now safe through the breakers
Take us ashore without harm.
Saba, O jewel most precious!
In the Caribbean Sea,
Mem'ries will stay of thy beauty
Though we may roam far from thee.
Saba, your roads are all climbing
Steeply between the green hills.
Till the very last winding
The heart with this lovely view thrills.
The scene is a picturesque valley
With flowers so fragrant and fine
And this landscape of enchantment
Beauty imprints on the mind.
(Refrain)
Saba, o land full of treasure
Decked with your tropical plants,
Verdure so rich without measure
Covers the high mountain lands.
The fog and the sea-breeze together
Mingle and freshen the air
Making, you Saba, so precious
A healthy and prosperous sphere.
(Refrain)
Saba, O pearl of the ocean!
Friendly and lovely though small,
Do not forget to be grateful
To God, the Creator of all.
He in His goodness will guide you,
And bless you in every part,
Making you always more precious,
Saba, so dear to my heart!
(Refrain)
Saba, you rise from the ocean,
With mountains and hills so steep.
How can we reach you to greet you
Island of the sea, rough and deep?
Come on let's see after the rowers
With their faces so serene and calm
Now lead us safely through the breakers
Bring us ashore without harm.
Saba, oh most precious jewel!
In the caribbean sea
Memories of your beauty will remain
Even if we wander far from you.
Saba, your streets are all rising
Steep between the green hills.
To the very last corner
The heart trembles at the lovely view.
The scenery is a picturesque valley,
So fragrant and beautiful with flowers.
And this landscape of enchantment
Impresses the mind with this beauty.
(Refrain)
Saba, oh land of treasures,
Adorned with your tropical plants.
The green so immensely rich
Covers the high mountains.
The fog and the sea breeze together
Mix and freshen the air.
Make you, Saba, so precious
A healthy and prosperous sphere.
(Refrain)
Saba, oh pearl of the ocean!
Friendly and lovely, if small,
Don't forget to be grateful
To God, the Creator of everything.
He will guide you in his goodness
And bless you in every piece.
What makes you more and more valuable
Saba, so dear to my heart!
(Refrain)
