Obed Dlamini

Obed Mfanyana Dlamini (born April 4, 1937 in Mhlosheni, † January 18, 2017 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) was a Swaziland politician and Prime Minister of Swaziland from 1989 to 1993 .

He enjoyed a good education in the Swaziland school system and then worked as a teacher from 1961 to 1964. He then worked as an employee of financial institutions. He later became general secretary of the national trade union confederation. Obed Dlamini succeeded Sotsha Dlamini as Prime Minister in 1989 . He only ruled for three years at a time when the people were increasingly demanding reforms of the political system. From 1993 he was a senator and from 1999, as the successor to Ambrose Zwane, chairman of the opposition, not recognized as a party, Ngwane National Liberatory Congress .
