Sotsha Dlamini

Sotsha Ernest Dlamini (born May 27, 1940 in Mankayane , † February 7, 2017 in Nhlambeni , Manzini ) was a Swaziland politician and Prime Minister from 1986 to 1989 .

Born in Mankayane, Dlamini was appointed Prime Minister at the personal request of King Mswati III, who was enthroned in the same year . who wanted a reformer from outside the royal family. Dlamini worked for the criminal police until 1984. After that, until he took office, he worked as the chief of security on a sugar plantation.

In addition to the economic reforms, he shared the royal position, which was critical of the apartheid policy of South Africa and covertly supported the South African African National Congress . During his tenure, two journalists were detained for 60 days for criticizing the king.

After the end of his political career, he became head of security for Swaziland Milling in Manzini . He spent his retirement as a farmer.

Despite his family name, he was not one of the numerous royal family members, but was a bourgeois Swazi . Dlamini died on February 7, 2017 in Nhlambeni in the Manzini region as a result of a fall. He left behind his wife and seven children.
