Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini (born March 5, 1968 in Mbekelweni , Manzini region , Protectorate Swaziland , † December 13, 2020 in South Africa ) came from the royal family of the Dlamini family and was an Eswatin manager and politician . From 2018 to 2020 he was Prime Minister of Eswatini.

Life

According to his parentage, Dlamini was Prince of Mhlanhleni, where his grandfather settled in Mbekelweni. His grandfather was Prince Magongo (also Makhombane), who was descended from King Mbandzeni .

He passed his O-Level exam at the Salesian High School in Manzini in 1987 . He then earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Swaziland and a Master of Business Administration from Hampton University in Hampton , Virginia . After that he worked in various banks. From 2003 to 2010 he was Managing Director of Nedbank Swaziland . From 2010 to 2018 he was CEO of the telecommunications company Swazi MTN (most recently MZN Eswatini ). Besides, he wasChairman of the Swaziland Revenue Authority .

King Mswati III appointed him on October 27, 2018 . to the successor to the acting Prime Minister Vincent Mhlanga , who had previously replaced Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini . Dlamini was sworn in on October 29, 2018.

Dlamini tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in mid-November 2020 , was taken to a hospital in South Africa in mid-December and died there on December 13, 2020 at the age of 52. The government did not provide any information about the cause of death. Other sources explicitly state COVID-19 as the cause of death, including T-Online.
