history

The name Oberfrauenwald goes back to the Niedernburg convent in Passau . In 1010 , King Heinrich II granted the monastery a part of the royal northern forest between the Danube and Bohemia with imperial immediacy. This forest area has since been referred to as "Frauenwald". The area became part of the Passau bishopric between 1161 and 1220 . The place belonged to the office Waldkirchen of the nursing court Leoprechting and was 1803 with the largest part of the Passau area in favor of the electorate of Salzburg by Ferdinand III. secularized by Tuscany . It only fell to Bavaria in 1805 . With the formation of the communities on the basis of the second Bavarian community edict of May 17, 1818, the community of Oberfrauenwald was formed. In addition to Oberfrauenwald, it also included the places Dickenbüchel, Neidlingerberg and Schauerbach. The community was incorporated into Waldkirchen on January 1, 1968.
