Oberlützingen (officially Lützingen ) is a district in the municipality of Burgbrohl in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Ahrweiler .

The two villages Nieder- and Oberlützingen lie high above the Rhine Valley, bordered by Brohl and Vinxtbachtal , on a plateau from which the view extends far over the foothills of the Eifel . The two socially, culturally and ecclesiastically connected places had been independent municipalities since Prussia took over the Rhineland in 1815 and belonged to the Burgbrohl mayor in the Mayen district . As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional and administrative reform that began in the mid-1960s, the new municipality of Burgbrohl was formed on June 7, 1969 from the municipalities of Burgbrohl, Niederoberweiler and Oberlützingen, which is part of the Brohlal community. From the municipalities of Niederlützingen and Brohl, the municipality of Brohl (renamed Brohl-Lützing since February 1, 1971 ) was formed on November 7, 1970 ; Brohl-Lützing belongs to the Bad Breisig community .

That's how it turned out

  • Oberlützingen is the district of Lützingen in the municipality of Burgbrohl
  • Niederlützingen the district Lützing in the local community Brohl-Lützing

From a church perspective, Oberlützingen belongs to the parish Brohl-Lützing.

Oberlützingen currently (as of 2005) has over 700 inhabitants, whose average age is less than 40 years due to the heavy building activity and the influx of young families.
