The village of Oberndorf is part of the Röhrnbach market in the Freyung-Grafenau district . The municipality of the same name came in part to Röhrnbach on April 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . The other area came to Kumreut .

In 2008 about 350 people lived in Oberndorf. The number of inhabitants has almost doubled since 1994 due to a new housing estate.

Oberndorf is located in the southern Bavarian Forest at an altitude of 470 to 550  m above sea level. NN . Oberndorf lies on a small hill about 50 to 100 meters above the main municipality Röhrnbach, one kilometer to the south. The highest point is the Berghaisl mountain ( 580  m above sea  level ), over which a road leads to neighboring Kumreut . Every year on December 26th, the nationally known "Mountain Christmas" takes place on this survey.

The B12 runs in the immediate vicinity and leads to Passau, 26 kilometers away, and Freyung , 10 kilometers away . Oberndorf borders on the districts of Kumreut, Praßreut, Nebling, Unterstrahbergmühle and Röhrnbach .

history

Oberndorf was part of the Passau bishopric . The place was in 1803 with the largest part of the Passau area in favor of the Electorate of Salzburg by Ferdinand III. Secularized by Tuscany and fell to Bavaria in 1805 . With the formation of the communities in 1818 on the basis of the second Bavarian community edict of May 17, 1818, the community of Oberndorf was formed. Large parts of the formerly independent communities Wilhelmsreut and Oberndorf were incorporated into Röhrnbach on April 1, 1971.
