Obernesselgraben around 1870

Obernesselgraben , also called Obernößlgraben , was a wasteland in the district court of Reichenhall . The desert Unteresselgraben and Obernesselgraben, only a hundred meters apart, were also referred to collectively as the hamlet of Nesselgraben. The impact water for the drifting water wheels in the Ober- and Unterstesselgraben was derived via long pipelines.

The upper basin ditch was the site of a Brunn house the brine line from Reichenhall to Traunstein , which is not preserved. The brine was transported from here to the elevated tank , at a delivery height of 163 shoes and four inches (about 48 meters).

When, as part of the modernization of the brine pipeline between 1808 and 1810 by Georg Friedrich von Reichenbach, the previous pumps were replaced by the much more powerful water column machine, the Obernesselgraben well ceased to exist. From 1810 onwards the pumping capacity was only provided by the Brunnhaus Unterstesselgraben.

The area in which the protected Antoniberg chapel is located today belongs to the Bad Reichenhaller district Thumsee , district Karlstein .
