Oberstetten is a district of Niederstetten in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . It was first mentioned around 700 in a document from the diocese of Fulda .

geography

The village of Oberstetten is about 380  m above sea level. NN in the valley of the Vorbach , a left tributary of the Tauber , at the inlet of its largest tributary Reutalbach from the east. Above the village, the Vorbach is dammed into a small lake in the flood retention basin Oberstetten .

In the surrounding valley landscape, the many stone bars on the slopes are striking. The valleys are dug into the erosion-resistant shell limestone , which is why there are many stones in the ground; That is why a hillside is called Gesteinich . The stones that hindered cultivation were harvested from fields and the now largely abandoned vineyards and piled up in stone bars at the edge of the property.

In addition to Oberstetten itself, which is the focus of the settlement, there are other small towns in the area that extends to the heights. The hamlet of Weilerhof is located on the edge of the district on the left side above the Vorbachtal, the Höllhof to the right of the Reuttal on the border to the neighboring district of Wildentierbach . Below him is the Reutalmühle on the Reutalbach and, further down, the Fuggermühle on the edge of the village. The Stegmühle follows the village down the stream.
