Octavio Betancourt Arango

Octavio Betancourt Arango (born January 4, 1928 in Abejorral , † June 18, 2017 in Medellín ) was a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Garzón .

Life

Octavio Betancourt Arango was ordained a priest on November 1, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 23, 1970 auxiliary bishop in Medellín and titular bishop of Germania in Dacia . The Archbishop of Medellín, Tulio Botero Salazar CM , ordained him episcopal on February 2nd of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Aníbal Muñoz Duque , Coadjutor Archbishop of Bogotá , and Arturo Duque Villegas , Archbishop of Manizales .

On November 10, 1975 he was appointed Bishop of Garzón. On April 26, 1977 Paul VI. his early resignation request.
