Ramón Mantilla Duarte CSsR (born July 17, 1925 in Piedecuesta , Santander , Colombia , † March 16, 2009 in Bogotá , Colombia) was Bishop of Ipiales .

Life

Ramón Mantilla Duarte joined the Congregation of the Missionary Community of the Redemptorists in. He studied philosophy and theology in Astorga, Spain, from 1942 to 1948 and was ordained a priest on February 5, 1948. From 1965 to 1966 he completed postgraduate studies in liturgy in Madrid and from 1966 to 1967 in sociology in Rome . He received his doctorate from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas .

In 1971 Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Oppidum Consilinum and ordered him to Apostolic Vicar of Mocoa-Sibundoy . Archbishop Angelo Palmas , Nuncio in Colombia, gave him his episcopal ordination on March 13, 1971 ; Co- consecrators were Héctor Rueda Hernández , Bishop of Bucaramanga, and José de Jesús Pimiento Rodriguez , Bishop of Garzón-Neiva. In 1977 he was appointed Bishop of Garzón . In 1985 Pope John Paul II appointed him third Bishop of Ipiales. In 1987 his resignation was granted.
