Rafael Arcadio Bernal Supelano CSsR (born November 28, 1934 in Zipaquirá , Colombia ; † January 11, 2019 in Bucaramanga ) was a Colombian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Líbano-Honda .

Life

Rafael Arcadio Bernal Supelano joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in, put the profession on August 22, 1952, received on 11 January 1959, the priestly ordination .

Paul VI appointed him on February 27, 1978 Vicar Apostolic of Sibundoy and Titular Bishop of Amudarsa . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Eduardo Martínez Somalo , donated him episcopal ordination on April 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Arturo Salazar Mejía OAR , Bishop of Pasto , and Ramón Mantilla Duarte CSsR, Bishop of Garzón .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Arauca on March 29, 1990 . He was named Bishop of Líbano-Honda on January 10, 2003, and was introduced to the office on March 25 of the same year.

John Paul II accepted his early resignation on February 28, 2004.
