history
The Bavarian Urkataster shows Oed in the 1810s as two solitudes , Oberoed and Unteröd . These were already heavily sprawled, probably by inheritance, and used the water power of the Etzelbach to drive two mills. At that time there were a total of six hearths. One of the mills served as an oil mill and during the early industrialization period as a hammer mill , the other later as a sawmill .
Not much of the historical building fabric has been preserved in Oed. In addition to the historic Oedmühle , only the four-step Oed railway bridge at 38,586 kilometers is qualified as a monument .
