Of Good Report is a South African film drama or thriller by Jahmil XT Qubeka from the year 2013 . The film was supposed to open the Durban International Film Festival in July 2013 , but was canceled at short notice because the state regulatory authority in South Africa suspected the depiction of sex with minors. However, the film ran at the end of the festival. The film was shown at the Toronto Film Festival and was shown in November 2013 as the opening film of the African Film Festival in London. The film won the South African Film and Television Award for best film and several international awards. The black and white film is hailed as South Africa's " Hitchcock ". The film had its German premiere on March 30, 2014 in Berlin.

Of Good Report addresses the issue of abuse of young girls in South Africa. The film tells from the perspective of the teacher, who is too interested in his student, but clearly takes a stand against the abuse, for the victims.

The introverted and gentle-looking teacher Parker Sithole is introduced to his new school as a man of good repute . From now on he will teach the ninth grade and will also support the dance teacher. That same evening Parker meets an overwhelming young woman in the village pub and seems to fall head over heels in love with her. The next day, however, he discovers that this is a forbidden love. So the object of his desire is not only a minor, but also his pupil. Nevertheless, a passionate, almost obsessive relationship develops between the two, which the two try to keep a secret. But their relationship is almost inevitably headed for a tragic end, as Parker hides deadly secrets.
