The FFH area Ohrn-, Kupfer- und Forellental is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-6723-311) in the Hohenlohekreis and in the district that was registered in 2005 by the Stuttgart Regional Council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg . The FFH area is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . With the ordinance of the regional council of Stuttgart on the definition of areas of community importance of October 30, 2018, the protected area was established.

The FFH area includes large forest areas west of Künzelsau , the Kocher between Sindringen and Ohrnberg , near-natural flowing water sections of the Ohrn , Sall , Kupfer , Forellenbach and Bibers , still waters in the Waldenburg mountains , meadows on the slopes and in the Kochertal.

Protection purpose

The following habitat types according to Annex I of the Habitats Directive occur in the area:

  • Transitional and swinging lawn bogs
  • Tufa springs
  • Limestone (semi) dry lawns and their stages of shrubbery (* orchid-rich stands)
  • Species-rich bristle grass lawn
  • Pipe grass meadows
  • Moist tall herbaceous vegetation
  • Lean, lowland hay meadows
  • Limestone cliffs with crevice vegetation
  • Mixed ravine and hillside forests
  • Alder, ash and softwood alluvial forests
  • Caves that are not open to tourists
  • Woodruff beech forests
  • Running waters with flooding aquatic vegetation
  • Natural and near-natural nutrient-rich still waters with spawning or frog-bite communities
