Olav Münzberg (2006)

Olav Münzberg (born October 25, 1938 in Gleiwitz ; † April 21, 2020 ) was a German man of letters , writer , poet , narrator , essayist and critic . Together with Janina Szarek , he co-founded the Transform Acting School and the German-Polish stage Teatr Studio am Salzufer in Berlin-Charlottenburg .

Life

Born in what is now the Polish town of Gleiwitz, Olav Münzberg's family fled to Sulzfeld in Lower Franconia in January 1945 during the Second World War , where he spent his childhood and youth. From 1962 he began studying law, philosophy, religious studies, art studies and German in West Berlin . In 1972 he received his doctorate on aesthetics from the Free University of Berlin under Klaus Heinrich . From 1991 Olav Münzberg was honorary professor for art and cultural studies at the Berlin University of the Arts (HdK) Berlin.

From 1984 he worked as a freelance writer, poet, narrator, essayist, critic, editor and art and cultural scientist as well as non-fiction author.

Olav Münzberg took part in various literary juries and international literary symposia in Europe and held numerous functions as an author and theater maker in Berlin:

From 1962 until his death he lived in West Berlin or in Berlin and was married to Janina Szarek .
