Oleg Ivanovich Dal

Oleg Ivanovich Dal ( Russian Олег Иванович Даль ; born May 25, 1941 in Ljublino, Moscow Oblast , RSFSR , Soviet Union ; † March 3, 1981 in Kiev , USSR , Soviet Union) was a Soviet theater and film actor.

Life and accomplishments

Dal, the son of a teacher and an engineer, attended drama school at the Maly Theater until 1963 and worked for various theaters until the end of his life. He was always considered an unconventional person, so his engagement at the Sovremennik ended for disciplinary reasons, and he left the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography without a degree.

Although Dal made his film debut in 1962 in the film Wild Travel , he was not regularly active in front of the camera until the late 1960s. He played the leading roles under the direction of Nadezhda Koschewerowa in the fairy tale films An ancient fairy tale and How stupid Ivanushka sought the miracle . His filmography includes over 30 works.

Honors

Dal received no prizes or awards throughout his life, but in 1987 he was posthumously honored at the All Union Film Festival for his role in the 1979 television film Отпуск в сентябре ( Otpusk w sentjabre ).

In 2016, the Russian Post issued a postcard with his portrait on the occasion of Dal's 75th birthday.

Private

Dal was married three times: with the actresses Nina Doroschina and Tatjana Lavrowa and with Elisabeth Eichenbaum, whom he met while filming King Lear . They both married on November 27, 1970.

Dal died of a heart attack in a Kiev hotel room at the age of 39 and was buried in the Vagankovo ​​Cemetery in Moscow .

In addition to his acting activities, he also wrote poetry privately.
