For the first time at an international championship, Olena Kolesnytschenko competed at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2009 and took seventh place there. In 2010 she took part in the premiere of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and won the bronze medal there. In 2012 she made it to the finals of the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she barely missed a medal in fourth. In 2014 she qualified for the European Championships in Zurich , but was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2015, she finished sixth over the hurdles at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn and finished fifth with the Ukrainian 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2016 she reached the semi-finals of the European Championships in Amsterdam and also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she made it to the semi-finals . At the World Student Games in Taipei , she won the bronze medal.
