Olena Lukasch

Olena Leonidiwna Lukasch ( Ukrainian Олена Леонідівна Лукаш , born November 12, 1976 in Rîbnița , Moldovan SSR ) is a Ukrainian lawyer and politician . She was the Ukrainian Minister of Justice from July 4, 2013 to February 27, 2014 .

Olena Lukasch was born on November 12, 1976 in Rîbnița and lived in Sjewjerodonetsk from 1976 to 1995 . In 2000 she graduated from the Academy of Labor and Social Relations in Kiev her studies of law . From 2000 to 2001 she worked in the law firm " Imenem Zakona ". In April 2001, she received her official approval as a lawyer and was in September of that year, the head of the law firm. From 2004 to 2005 she was a lecturer in civil and criminal law at the Ukrainian State University of Finance and International Trade in Kiev. From June to November 2005 she worked as a lawyer in the law firm " Libera ". In 2006 she was elected to the Verkhovna Rada as a member of the Party of Regions , where she served as the head of the sub-committee of the judiciary . From October 2006 to November 2007 she was the head of legal advice of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. In November 2007 she was appointed secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy. In March 2010 she was appointed representative of the President of Ukraine before the Ukrainian Constitutional Court. On October 7, 2010, Lukash received the honorary title of "Honored Lawyer of Ukraine" by decree of President Viktor Yanukovych . In April 2011, she took over the post of Advisor to the President. On July 4, 2013, President Yanukovych appointed Lukasch by decree as Minister of Justice of Ukraine in Azarov's second cabinet .

Euromaidan

Due to the Euromaidan protests, Yanukovych released Prime Minister Mykola Azarov by decree on January 28, 2014 . From then on Lukasch and all other ministers were only in office as transitional ministers. At a parliamentary group meeting a few days later, Lukasch criticized Yanukovych's crisis management. After the negotiations with the opposition, she reproached him: " Arseniy Yazenjuk and Oleh Tjahnybok are actually ready to negotiate, but Klitschko is not behaving constructively due to his intellectual limitations." Yanukovych is said to have interrupted her and asked for more objectivity. After all ministers were replaced on February 27 by the new ministers of the interim government , the new attorney general of Ukraine issued an arrest warrant on February 28 against Lukasch and other former government officials for alleged “involvement in the mass killings of activists in the city center Kiev from February 18-22. "

On March 6, the EU imposed sanctions on Lukash for being "the subject of criminal prosecution in Ukraine for the investigation of crimes related to the embezzlement of Ukrainian public funds and the illegal transfer of those funds abroad".

Lukasch is married and has two daughters.
