Olga Connolly
Olga Connolly (born Fikotová ; born November 13, 1932 in Prague ) is a former discus thrower . She won the gold medal in her discipline at the Melbourne Olympics .
Olga Connolly was born in Czechoslovakia and won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1956 under her maiden name Fikotová. During these games she met the American hammer thrower Hal Connolly . They married in October 1957 and Fikotová started operating under the name Connolly for the United States from then on . Connolly was five times US champion in discus throw (1957, 1960, 1962, 1964, 1968) and took part in the Olympic Games four times, but won no more medals. At her last games in 1972 in Munich , she was the standard bearer for the US team.
She has four children and has been divorced from Harold Connolly since 1973 (other sources: 1975).
