Olga Lvovna Sviblowa
Olga Lwowna Swiblowa ( Russian Ольга Львовна Свиблова ; born June 6, 1953 in Moscow ) is a Russian museum director , curator and film director . She founded the Moscow House of Photography in 1996 and has been head of its successor institution, the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow , since 2001 .
Family, education
Swiblowa's father was an engineer at the Kurchatov Institute , her mother a university lecturer in German .
Sviblowa attended Moscow Mathematical School No. 444, where she met letters from Soviet dissidents . In 1978 she graduated from Lomonosov Moscow University with a degree in psychology . She then worked as a street sweeper for six years. “I think that was the happiest time of my life. We worked as street sweepers or night watchmen because the most precious thing in life is free time to express yourself creatively. And I believe many poets and artists of my generation would say the same thing. ”From 1983 to 1995 she worked as a writer and director of art documentaries and curated contemporary art exhibitions in Russia, Finland , Switzerland , the Netherlands , Great Britain and France . In 1987 she did her doctorate with a dissertation on the "Psychology of Creation". She is a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts in Moscow, the successor to the Art Academy of the USSR, not to be confused with the Russian Art Academy in St. Petersburg .
Museum director
Sviblowa is the founding director of the Moscow House of Photography, created in 1996 by decision of the Moscow City Council . Since this year she has also been Art Director of the Moscow International Photo Biennale and, since 1999, of the Moscow International Biennial “Fashion and Style”. Since 2001 she has been the director of the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow (MAMM), in which the House of Photography has merged. In 2013, under her leadership, the МАММ was voted “Museum of the Year” by the newspaper “The Art Newspaper Russia”. Since then she has curated over 2000 projects, including 500 exhibitions of contemporary art at MAMM, at home and abroad.
In 2007 and 2009 she was the curator of the Russian Pavilion at the 52nd and 53rd Biennials of Contemporary Art in Venice .

Sviblowa is the scriptwriter and director of the nationally and internationally award-winning films " Кривоарбатский переулок, 12 " ("Kriwoarbatski-Gasse 12") about the life and work of the architect Konstantin Melnikow (1987), " Чёрный квадрes. " Underground art from 1953 to 1988 (1988), " В поисках счастливого конца " ("In search of the happy ending") about contemporary Russian art (1991) and from " Дина Верни " (" Dina Vierny ") about the French model Vierny (1995).
Awareness and Awards
Swiblowa is highly regarded in the international art world for its promotion of Russian contemporary art and young artists. In Russia she is also valued primarily for her services to historical photography. She has received numerous national and non-governmental awards from home and abroad, including the Order of Friendship (2007), the level of Knight of the Legion of Honor (2008) and Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (2012).
Private life
Swiblowa lives and works in Moscow. From 1972 until her divorce in 1991 she was married to the Russian poet Alexei Parschtschikow , who died in 2009 and with whom she has a son (* 1984). After that she was married to the French gallery owner Olivier Morand until his death in 2012 .
