Olga Markowa ( Russian Ольга Маркова; English transcription Olga Markova ; born August 6, 1968 ) is a former Russian marathon runner .

In 1990 she came third in the Hamburg Marathon and won the Marine Corps Marathon. The following year she was third in the Los Angeles Marathon , fourth in the Bila Zerkwa Marathon and second in the New York City Marathon .

In 1992 she became the first Russian woman to win the Boston Marathon in 2:23:43 hours, which was the second fastest time on this course at the time. Nevertheless, she was not accepted into the United Team of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for the 1992 Summer Olympics , as the association decided to only consider those runners who had started the official qualifying marathon (the Los Angeles Marathon ). In the Olympic marathon in Barcelona then instead of Markova nominated Valentina Yegorova won the gold medal, while Markova was again second in New York City at the end of the season.

The following year, the first meeting of these two Russian runners took place in Boston, who led the field together up to half the distance. Then Markova took off, and while Yegorova later gave up the race, Markova defended her title in 2:25:27 with four and a half minutes behind the second. In 1994, Markowa was tenth in the Osaka Women's Marathon .

Olga Markowa now lives in Gainesville (Florida) .
