The Oligoclada amphinome is one of the 24 dragonfly species of the genus Oligoclada from the subfamily Brachydiplacinae . The species has been proven north of Rockstone via Pará to Manaus .

Construction of the Imago

The abdomen measures between 13.5 and 15.1 millimeters in Oligoclada amphinome males. The underside of the abdomen is red in the seventh to ninth segment of the males and is outlined in orange and black. The rest of the abdomen is metallic blue-black and the last two segments are usually dusted. The upper abdomen appendages of the males , which are roughly the same length in comparison with the lower ones, allow the species to be differentiated from Oligoclada crocogaster , in which both are equally long. The thorax of the males is dark blue and appears to be covered with fine dust. The transparent hind wings measure between 17.3 and 19.3 millimeters in the males. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) reaches 1.5 to 2.0 millimeters. The number of antenodal veins is eight and a half to ten and a half in the forewing and six to seven in the hind wing. The last Antenodalader in the front wing is incomplete, so it does not extend from the Costalader to the Radiusader . There are seven to nine or seven to ten post-nodal loaders.

habitat

The animals' habitat are small streams in the tropical rainforest . They sit there on leaves looking for prey.

Research history

The species was first described in 1913 by Friedrich Ris using an animal from Tumatumari in Guyana .
