Oliv Jeker

Oliv Jeker (born April 1, 1861 in Büsserach ; † October 12, 1949 there ) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

Life

Oliv Jeker was born on April 1st, 1861 as the son of the teacher Alexander Jeker in Büsserach. After he had received the teacher license in 1879, he taught as a primary school teacher in Aeschi . In addition, from 1886 to 1889 he trained as a district teacher at the Technikum Winterthur and at the University of Lausanne ; he obtained the district teacher license in 1889. As a result, he worked from 1889 to 1924 as a district teacher in Breitenbach . He also held the position of school inspector in the Thierstein district . At Jeker's request, the district school was opened in Nunningen in 1922 . From 1912 to 1917 he was an elected member of the education council. From the beginning of the 20th century , Oliv Jeker campaigned for the establishment of industrial companies in the black boy country (including the Swiss Isola-Werke AG) and took a seat on their boards of directors .

Oliv Jeker, who married Maria Anna, née Altermatt, in 1892, died on October 12, 1949 at the age of 88 in Büsserach.

Oliv Jeker was a member of the Solothurn Cantonal Council from 1921 to 1931 , where he made a name for himself as the initiator of Passwangstrasse . In addition, he sat in the National Council from 1925 to 1931 , where he campaigned for the reform of alcohol legislation.
