Peter Heim (born August 21, 1944 in Olten ; resident in Neuendorf and Olten) is a Swiss historian , teacher and archivist .

Life

Heim completed the Matura type B in 1963 and studied Swiss history , general history , German philology , French philology and philosophy at the University of Basel and history and German philology at the University of Göttingen . He received his doctorate in 1971 in Basel with a thesis on The Teutonic Order Coming Beuggen and the beginnings of the Alsace-Burgundy Ballei .

From 1971 to 1973 Heim was a lecturer for German and History at the Gymnasium Liestal and from 1973 to 2006 he was the main teacher for History and German at the Cantonal School in Olten . From 2003 to 2012 he was the city ​​archivist of Olten. He also leads city tours through Olten.

Heim has been the head of the company archives project of the Historical Society of the Canton of Solothurn , which he initiated , and of which he is also a member of the board. He's authored a book on the history of the Bally Corporation. From 2002 to 2006 he was an employee of Helvetia Sacra . Heim wrote various articles on the history of Solothurn for the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland . Since 2005 he has been working on the history of the canton of Solothurn. Heim is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bally Family and Company History Foundation .

Peter Heim is married to the politician Bea Heim , has three children and lives in Starrkirch-Wil .
