Oliver Gies (born June 28, 1985 ) is a German volleyball player and coach.

Oliver Gies began playing volleyball in 1990 at the Duisburg suburb Rumelner TV . Later he also played in the volleyball boarding school in Frankfurt and in the junior national team. With Rumelner TV he was German A youth champion in 2002 and 2005 . From 2004 to 2006 the outside attacker played for Bundesliga club Moerser SC , with whom he finished third in the Bundesliga in 2005 and reached the German Cup final in 2006 . Then Gies played for the league competitors TV Rottenburg , SG Eltmann and Wuppertal Titans . In 2010 he returned to Rumeln to his home club, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2011 . After the Rumelner withdrew in 2014, Gies moved to the second division TSG Solingen Volleys as a player and assistant coach . With the club, he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2016. From December 2016 to March 2018 Gies was player-coach in Solingen.
