Oliver Klaus Grundmann (born August 21, 1971 in Stade ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lawyer . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 .

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school in Stade in 1987 , Oliver Grundmann completed an apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory assistant in Buxtehude . In 1993 he made up his Abitur and then completed a two-year training as a reserve officer in Cuxhaven . From 1995 he studied law at the University of Hamburg and graduated in 2001 with the first state examination. The second state examination at the Higher Regional Court of Celle followed in 2005 . Grundmann is admitted to the bar.

In 2001 he joined an owner-managed medium-sized group of companies in the field of environmental services as an assistant to the management. This was followed by positions as legal advisor / lawyer and senior counsel in the same company. From 2007 onwards, as managing director, he built up a subsidiary with a focus on recycling carbon fiber reinforced plastics . The special recycling process developed for CFRP plastics was awarded the German Raw Material Efficiency Prize by the Federal Minister of Economics in 2011 and received the award “Landmark in the Land of Ideas 2012”.

Oliver Grundmann is Protestant, married and has three children.

1987 Grundmann joined the Junge Union and the CDU . From 1995 to 2003 he was district chairman of the Junge Union Elbe-Weser . From 2003 to 2019 he was chairman of the CDU city association Stade and was then elected honorary chairman.

In 1996 Grundmann moved into the City Council of Stade and was Deputy Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Stade from 2011 to 2016. In 2001 he was elected to the district council in the Stade district, where he is deputy chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group and chairman of the regional planning and environmental committee.

In the general election in 2013 Grundmann moved for the first time directly into the Bundestag. In the 2017 federal elections , he was directly re-elected with 44.4 percent in the Stade I - Rotenburg II constituency .

In the German Bundestag, Grundmann is a full member of the Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety , where he is the rapporteur for the topics of environment and traffic as well as technology in traffic. In this context he advocates the promotion of alternative fuels such as LNG , hydrogen or synthetic fuels . He is also a deputy member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Election Review Committee .

In February 2018, Grundmann was elected chairman of the working group on the coast of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag . The working group represents the interests of the five northern German states within the parliamentary group.

As an environmental and climate politician in his group, Grundmann was part of the German delegation at the UN climate conferences in Bonn 2017 , Katowice 2018 and Madrid 2019 .

"Boxing for a good cause"

At the beginning of 2017, Grundmann achieved national attention with the charity event "Boxing for a good cause" that he supported. He also had oversized boxing gloves signed by celebrities from politics and entertainment; Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier , Chancellor Angela Merkel , Hape Kerkeling , Udo Lindenberg and Veronika Ferres signed the boxing gloves. A sale of over 80,000 euros was achieved, which the hospice between the Elbe and Weser in Bremervörde benefited from.
