Oliver Held (born September 10, 1972 in Kiel ) is a former German soccer player . He played as a midfielder and full-back. He was best known when in the 1997/98 Bundesliga season in the catch-up game on the 27th matchday with FC Schalke 04 against 1.FC Köln he blocked a shot on the goal line with his hand and , when asked by the referee, said the ball to have played with the head.

Career

Held's first clubs were SV Friedrichsort and Holstein Kiel , and in 1995 he moved to FC Schalke 04 . In six years he played 96 times in the Bundesliga and scored four goals. In 1997 he won the UEFA Cup with Schalke . In 2001 he moved to the former Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli , where he stayed for two years and scored two goals in 36 league games. From 2003 he played for the amateur club TSV Kropp until the end of his career due to injury in 2010 , where he also worked as an assistant coach for around four years. At TSV Kropp he works as a youth coach.

During his time at Schalke 04 gained attention hero because he particularly nationwide a precedent for the DFB - Sports court was. In a catch-up game on the 27th matchday of the 1997/98 season , which took place after the 32nd matchday, in the game Schalke 04 against 1.
