The men's 4-mile team run at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics was held at Francis Field on September 3, 1904 .

It is not clear from the sources whether the race was held in the stadium or as a cross-country run. The route length of four miles corresponds to 6437.32 meters. Each team consisted of five runners, whose place numbers were added to the overall result. Both teams were represented by the US athletics clubs from New York and Chicago, with the Chicago team being the Frenchman Corey. The New York Athletic Club won by one point ahead of the Chicago Athletic Association.

The numbers behind the names indicate the runner's position in the race. Newton was clearly superior and lapped all other runners. His winning time is given as 21: 17.8 minutes. For places 2 and 3, contemporary sources sometimes give the reverse order, but this has no effect on the team result.
