Top favorite Ray Ewry, who had won all three standing jumping competitions in Paris four years earlier , was not seriously challenged by the competition. He won with a new Olympic record . Charles King came second eight inches behind him. His name is sometimes also Con King , it is clearly the same person. John Biller was narrowly beaten in third place and two days later in the standing vault.
