The process of qualification and the final remains unclear. There is a general overview of the result, which is listed above. The seventh Olympic victory was here for the standing jump specialist Raymond Ewry, who had won all Olympic standing jumping competitions up to then. An eighth gold medal came for him at the end of his Olympic career three days later in the standing vault . As in the standing vault, the Greek Konstantinos Tsiklitiras later won the silver medal. He came from Pylos , had seen Ewry two years earlier at the interludes in Athens in 1906 and had thus come to the sport. Four years later, in Stockholm , Tsiklitiras was to win this competition. Third place went to the US double Olympic gold medalist in the discus throw of 1904 and 1908, Martin Sheridan. John Biller from the United States, together with Tsiklitiras second in the standing vault, took fourth place. The Swede Ragnar Ekberg was fifth ahead of Platt Adams, USA, the Olympic fifth in the standing vault and the 1912 Olympic champion in the standing vault. A number of participants, whose placement and distance is not known, also took part in other disciplines of these games, including the Irish triple jump Olympic champion Timothy Ahearne, here for Great Britain.
