The South African Union took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles with a delegation of 30 male athletes in 25 competitions in seven sports.

The South African athletes each won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. Olympic champion was the bantamweight boxer William Smith , silver went to hurdler Sidney Atkinson over 110 meters and bronze went to walker Cecil McMaster over the ten-kilometer distance.
