The competition with the folding single kayak over 10,000 meters at the 1936 Summer Olympics was held on August 7th on the Berlin-Grünau regatta course .

The competition consisted of one race. At the beginning of the race, the German Xaver Hörmann took the lead early on, but the Austrian Gregor Hradetzky and Henri Eberhardt from France followed suit . So the lead changed between these three athletes. So the race was decided on the last kilometer when the Austrian tore a gap the length of a boat and finally drove three seconds ahead of the French to an Olympic victory.
